Radiology
Diagnostic equipment is used in veterinary medicine for preventative care and early disease detection.
Veterinary diagnostic imaging creates composite images of the internal body that veterinarians can then use to discover disease or injury. Bear Valley Veterinary Care Center refers clients to local, Denver-based board-certified veterinary radiologists for imaging services, guaranteeing the highest quality of care for our patients.
Radiographs, or X-rays, use electromagnetic radiation directed towards the body to highlight objects within. These popular tests can detect a number of abnormalities including skeletal fractures, soft tissue damage, foreign bodies and dental disease. Radiography remains one of the most popular and accurate noninvasive diagnostic tools in the veterinary industry.
Some specialized procedures may require anesthesia. Orthopedic radiographs and contrast studies, for example, require pet patients to remain completely still to work correctly, which means sedation is necessary in most cases. The duration of sedation is usually short, and patient recovery is swift. A board-certified anesthesiologist oversees all procedures.
