Dr. Gifty Thomas
Hello, My name is Dr. Gifty Thomas! I grew up in Houston, Texas. I didn’t always know that I wanted to be a veterinarian but had a strong interest in biological sciences and a love for animals. I earned my B.S in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Houston Christian University. I realized veterinary medicine as my passion while working at a veterinary specialty hospital in Houston. I received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University. I went on to complete a one-year rotating internship at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, which brought my family and me to Colorado. During internship, I continued to develop an interest in neurology, diagnostic imaging, strengthening the human-animal bond, and gained experience in emergency medicine which remain my professional interests. In my free time, I enjoy being with my husband and our Labrador mix named Larry Bird. We spend time visiting new parks, baking, exploring new eateries, and playing recreational sports. I am happy to join the Bear Valley team to grow as a veterinarian and cultivate relationships with the community.
