Dr. Katherine King
Dr. Katherine King was born and raised in Atlanta, GA and has spent her whole life down south before moving to beautiful Colorado in June of 2018. Dr. King received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA and her DVM from Auburn University in Auburn, AL. From a young age, Dr. King has had a love and passion for animals growing up in a home with five dogs and one cat. She currently owns one dog- Nico. While she would describe his breed as “perfect,” she suspects he is likely a mix of Australian Cattle Dog, Corgi, and Beagle– and he has the attitude to support it!
Dr. King’s favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is the deep connection of the human- animal bond and she works tirelessly to support those relationships between her clients and patients. She first knew she wanted to become a veterinarian when she personally experienced the extent of compassion and generosity of a veterinarian supporting her family as they addressed end of life care for their own beloved pet. That being said, she doesn’t mind all the puppy and kitten visits either! Dr. King finds it a great privilege to work in the background as you develop these lifelong bonds with your pets.
When Dr. King is not at work caring for her patients, she enjoys hiking and exploring the beautiful state of Colorado, cooking, skiing (although not always well), traveling as far and as wide as possible, and eating all the guacamole and Queso Fundido she can. She is looking forward to getting to meet the clients of Bear Valley Veterinary Care Center and working together to care for your pets!
